CCP’s “Wolf Warrior” Diplomats Getting Into Trouble
June 30, 2021
Some of the CCP’s “wolf warrior” diplomats have insulted and attacked Western countries and media, claiming they are “systematically anti-China”, while emphasizing China’s strength and self-confidence at home and stirring up nationalist sentiment.
But CCP leader Xi Jinping has recently shifted the trends, emphasizing the need to “tell a good story of China ” and to recreate a “credible, lovable, respectable, gentle and benevolent” China for the outside world. Beijing wants a better international image, but domestic politics and interests are forcing it to act in the opposite direction, contradicting each other. Where do the “wolf warriors” go from here?
