CIA Establishes New Department, Aims to Counter Threats from CCP Expansion
Translated by MOS Education Group – Maverick
CIA Director William Burns announced the establishment of a new department, the “(Communist) China Mission Center”, to ensure that the CIA is capable of responding to ever-increasing confrontation from the CCP.
Burns said that the CCP government is the most important geopolitical threat for the United States in the 21st Century. Competition with the CCP, particularly in the field of science and technology, will be a crucial aspect of U.S. national security. Burns describes the expansion of the CCP regime as both confrontational and predatory, especially in Communist China under the current CCP leader Xi Jinping. The changes in recent years have aroused the vigilance of the United States. The establishment of this new department shows that the US government has clearly recognized that the CCP has surpassed Russia and become the biggest threat to the United States. If the U.S. fails to respond to the aggressive expansion of the CCP, U.S. influence in the Asia-Pacific region will diminish and will lose its position as the leader of the world in the long run.
