New Book Says National Institutes of Health Funded Wuhan Lab’s Deadly Virus Research

Sharri Markson’s new book “What Really Happened in Wuhan: the Cover-Ups, the Conspiracies and the Classified Research” revealed the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under Dr Anthony Fauci funded Communist China’s research project to identify viruses with pandemic potential.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), with the assistance of “Batwoman” Shi Zhengli, was allegedly compiling a database of potentially lethal bat coronaviruses while conducting gain-of-function research to increase the lethality of these viruses.

Ms Shi collected 19,000 bat samples in Wuhan, with 2,481 containing coronaviruses. The work was part of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) version of the Global Virome Project (GVP), as United States career diplomat Rick Switzer and US Consul-General Jamie Fouss discovered in a trip to Wuhan in March 2018.

The GVP was initially a decade-long international effort to identify all the planet’s viruses with harmful consequences to humans. However, the CCP version was conducted in a poorly managed WIV lab with zero US oversight.

“The Wuhan Institute of Virology was built in conjunction with the Jean Mérieux BSL-4 Laboratory in Lyons, France, and billed as a beacon of international scientific collaboration. It was to be China’s first high-containment laboratory. Construction began in 2004 and took 11 years and $44 million to complete. Spread out over 3,000sqm and covering four floors, it was accredited in February 2017 by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment and began working on live viruses by 2018,” Ms Markson writes in her book.

“There were ‘intense clashes’ between the French and Chinese during construction – and strong objections among the French to France’s involvement in the project. After the lab was up and running, the French were quickly kicked out. A cable sent to the US State Department in April 2018 by diplomat Rick Switzer read: ‘It is entirely China-funded and has been completely China-run since a “handover” ceremony in 2016.”

In April, Mr Switzer also sent a diplomatic cable to the United States Department of State, describing how the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under Dr Anthony Fauci was funding WIV research involving coronaviruses. Mr Fauci has since admitted the NIH funnelled 600,000 USD of public money into the WIV.

“NIH was a major funder, along with the National Science Foundation of China of SARS research by the Wuhan Institute of Virology,” Mr Switzer’s message explained.

“In the last year, the institute has also hosted visits from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation and experts from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.”

The Galveston branch has trained Wuhan lab technicians. At the same time, the US National Science Foundation gave an extensive workshop with the WIV in Shenzhen.

“Institute officials said there would be “limited availability” for international and domestic scientists who had gone through the necessary approval process to do research at the lab,” Mr Switzer wrote.

“So a laboratory working with the most lethal pathogens known to humankind had effectively cut off collaboration with the international community,” notes Ms Markson in her book.

The WIV and Ms Shi have come under severe international criticism since the pandemic was officially announced. US President Donald Trump has suggested the WIV is the pandemic source.

“Those who believe and spread rumours, shut your dirty mouth,” was Ms Shi’s only reply.

She also posted on the Chinese social media platform WeChat that COVID-19, or the CCP virus, was nature’s punishment for the uncivilised living habits of human beings.

“I, Shi Zhengli, use my life to guarantee that it has nothing to do with our lab,” Ms Shi continued.

The “Batwoman” had been conducting gain-of-function (GoF) research, which aims to increase the lethality of viruses. Researchers claim the method helps humanity avoid pandemics by identifying viruses that are deadly to human beings.

Meanwhile, the WIV’s GoF research is believed to have caused the current pandemic.

Furthermore, the Cambridge Working Group, consisting of 200 scientists, issued a letter in 2014 warning of the risks of GoF research:

“Laboratory creation of highly transmissible, novel strains of dangerous viruses, especially but not limited to influenza, poses substantially increased risks. . .An accidental infection in such a setting could trigger outbreaks that would be difficult or impossible to control. . .Historically, new strains of influenza, once they establish transmission in the human population, have infected a quarter or more of the world’s population within two years.”

The US also halted GoF research in 22 fields in 2014.

“During this pause, the US government will not fund any new projects involving these experiments and encourages those currently conducting this type of work — whether federally funded or not — to voluntarily pause their research while risks and benefits are being reassessed,” stated the White House in October that year.

Meanwhile, Dr Fauci argued the benefits of GoF experiments and the resulting knowledge outweigh the risks.

“It is more likely that a pandemic would occur in nature [than as a result of a laboratory accident or leak], and the need to stay ahead of such a threat is a primary reason for performing an experiment that might appear to be risky,” he stated.

The US then resumed GoF research in 2017. In 2018, the WIV lab linked to the pandemic began experimenting with live viruses. Before the global pandemic, this lab was allegedly one of the only two labs in the world conducting GoF experiments on coronaviruses.
