Poo-Poo Platter: James Corden ‘Encourages Anti-Asian Racism’ by Calling Food ‘Horrific’
During a “Spill Your Guts” segment of his show he used a negative term to describe an Asian dish and is now being called a racist.
Corden’s segment features different celebrities who have the choice to either answer a difficult question or eat unappealing food that is usually not a typical American dish. According to a change.org petition that was created by an angry … well, person with far too much leisure time, many of the foods that are used on the show come from Asian cultures. Asian food is one of the fastest growing cuisines in the United States since 1999, so what is the issue with Corden using some of these meals on his show? Well, he’s a racist, apparently.
That’s the typical leftist argument at least. The petition was created by TikToker Kim Saira, and calls for the removal of the segment from Corden’s show. It states that “he’s openly called these foods ‘really disgusting,’ and ‘horrific.’ In the wake of the constant Asian hate crimes that have continuously been occurring, not only is this segment incredibly culturally offensive and insensitive, but it also encourages anti-Asian racism. So many Asian Americans are consistently bullied and mocked for their native foods, and this segment amplifies and encourages it.”
This is more than classic outrage culture. We have moved into another dimension where disliking a food is seen as a “hate crime.” God help us, these people have seriously lost it.
The petition then demands three things,
Completely change the food presented on his show to something else, or remove the segment entirely.
A formal apology statement from James on his show, including steps he will be taking to do better in the future.
Funds donated to local Asian American organizations that are working to help Asian-owned restaurants and small businesses.
Pretty much the creator of this petition is saying that Corden must bribe the woke mob and he will be forgiven. This sounds a lot like exploitation. The petition even goes so far as to call out Corden for “perpetual harm” that his actions have “caus[ed] Asian American communities.”
I’m pretty sure Gordon Ramsay would have been cancelled a long time ago if disliking particular foods was a catalyst for racism. Who knows, maybe he’s next.
Corden caved to some of the girl’s demands, telling Howard Stern that “We heard that story, and the next time we do that bit, we absolutely won’t involve or use any of those foods,” and “Our show is a show about joy and light and love. We don’t want to make a show to upset anybody.”
Corden’s show has been airing for years, but he wasn’t prepared for the spoiled TikTokers of today who suffer from severe entitlement and thrive off of dissing people with real careers.
